How did I create a 3D poster with a hand-drawn effect?

I have seen many examples of hand-drawn styles in 3D from movies such as “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,” and “Wild Robot.” I was impressed and inspired by the art in these movies, so I decided to try creating something myself.

I chose an autumn theme for my 3D poster in that style. I had a couple of stages of creation, and I will share my process.

The first step was modeling the pumpkin. To achieve a realistic look at the shape and details, I researched various photos and referenced my previous illustrations of pumpkins.

Next, I created a composition that combined typography with the main object and added textures to the background.

After that, I textured the pumpkin and added some animation. I aimed to make the pumpkin resemble a hand-drawn illustration. I used Substance Painter to texture it. I used different brushes, layers, and shades of various colors to create a more artistic look.

Finally, I adjusted the size and position of the typography and the pumpkin and added some small 3D elements to balance the overall composition.

So, step by step, moving from one creative process to another, I made this autumn animation. Maybe you will find inspiration to create your poster!
